A Milestone for Endometriosis Surgery in San Diego County
The Coast News, September 4, 2026, featuring Dr. Chandra Spring-Robinson and Sharp Carlsbad Surgery Center’s first robotic-assisted procedure.
Dr. Chandra Spring-Robinson was recently featured in The Coast News following a milestone at Sharp Carlsbad Surgery Center: the center’s first robotic-assisted procedure and, according to Sharp, the first robotic-assisted procedure performed in an outpatient surgery facility in San Diego County.
Dr. Spring-Robinson performed the inaugural procedure using the da Vinci Xi surgical system for robotic excision of endometriosis.
The September 4, 2026 feature highlights the expansion of advanced robotic surgery into the outpatient setting and Dr. Spring-Robinson’s approach to endometriosis surgery and individualized care.
“Every woman deserves the highest quality surgical care in the setting that’s best for her.”
For Dr. Spring-Robinson, expanding where complex endometriosis surgery can be performed is about more than introducing new technology. It creates another option for appropriately selected patients while maintaining a focus on meticulous excision, individualized surgical planning, and continuity of care.
Dr. Spring-Robinson has now had the privilege of surgically caring for more than 1,500 women with endometriosis through robotic minimally invasive surgery. Each patient and surgical plan is different, and the appropriate surgical setting depends on the individual case.
